CODATA 2000 is a special event in the new millennium that addresses the important interdisciplinary issues in scientific and technical data management and dissemination.

CODATA 2000 seeks to harness the Information Revolution for the benefit of science and technology.

CODATA 2000 confronts data, information and knowledge issues that threaten to overwhelm us with unprecedented amounts of data. These issues result from new experimental capability at the nano-scale, new large scale facilities, global observing programmes, remote sensing and satellites and advanced modelling and simulation technology.

CODATA 2000 covers today’s issues such as data access, intellectual property rights, data and database quality, data exchange standards and the roles of databases in research and development.

CODATA 2000 examines state-of-the-art data work in every area of science and technology, from biology to global change, from the physical sciences to engineering.

CODATA 2000 is designed to excite the scientific community with new ideas in data management and data science. CODATA 2000 exposes data specialists to the complexity and variety of scientific data needs and thereby creates an environment where ideas flourish and partnerships spring forward.

CODATA 2000 is the forum to learn about the latest advances in data tools, methods and technology on a world-wide basis. Our venue in Italy is most conducive to learning from attractive plenary lectures, specialised talks, group discussions and personal interactions. It is an exciting time for scientific data, and we invite you to be part of that excitement.
