Mr. John Faundeen’s academic degrees includes B.A. and M.S. Geography Majors with History, Remote Sensing, and Planning Minors or areas of concentration.  Mr. Faundeen has been with the US Geological Survey’s EROS Data Center (EDC) since 1985.  His first 5 years involved working in a Customer Service area facilitating users requiring remotely sensed imagery.  In 1990, he was asked to join the newly formed Information Systems Management section which created the USGS’s Global Land Information System (GLIS), an online public information system serving over 100 countries.  In 1996, Mr. Faundeen was asked to accept a 30-month detail at the US Geological Survey’s Headquarters in Reston Virginia as a technical liaison.  Upon his return to the EDC in 1998, he became a Program Manager with responsibility for the remotely sensed archive of 12 million images and for Public information systems used to provide access to those national treasures.  Starting in 2001, Mr. Faundeen became the Archivist for the USGS’s EROS Data Center.
