Past, Present and Future of Science in the Information Society

Prior to phase II of the World Summit, there will be a three day event focused specifically on the role of research in the Information Society, that is, the production of knowledge. The symposium will involve policy makers and program managers as well as working scientists and scholars. Sessions will be organized by a variety of individuals and organizations, focusing on: (1) the role of science in developing the Information Society; (2) current uses of information and communication technologies for the production of knowledge; (3) future involvement of developing areas in the global scientific community.
