Understanding of thermal data for improved medical diagnostics

Antoni Z. Nowakowski, Gdansk University of Technology, Poland

Importance of temperature and thermal tissue properties measurements in medical diagnostics is shortly discussed. The problem of understanding of thermal transients in living organisms is presented from the point of view of Infrared registration of temperature after external excitation of tissues under test. Several applications including diagnostics of burns, inspection of cardiosurgery interventions and breast cancer diagnostics are presented. Problems of reliability of living tissue properties are underlined.
